For more than 20 years, the Alberta Boiler Safety Association (ABSA) and the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) have organized and hosted the International Pressure Equipment Integrity Association Conference attracting more than 600 specialists in pressure vessel integrity from diverse industries each year. The 22nd Annual IPEIA Conference was held on from March 7 to 9 at the Banff Center in Alberta and featured more than 40 presentations on pressure equipment integrity by Canadian and international specialists. In addition to key note speakers, the conference also offered exhibitor booths showcasing integrity-related products and services and technical speakers discussing a range industry-related subjects.
This year’s conference was marked by pre-conference workshops for Welding & Non Destructive Examination (NDE) sponsored and given by by DCM Integrated Solutions Inc.
On Day 1 of the conference, our very own Gordon Canning, Corporate Quality Manager Western Canada, helped organize and present the Basic Welding and NDE Inspection workshop which provided a basic understanding of welding and metal joining technologies, discontinuities, inspection techniques, allowable In-service Boiler and Pressure Vessel repair methods. Candidates were given the opportunity to explore and recognize the best inspection methods and welding processes to use for a given repair.
With demonstrated success in the industry and exemplary day-to-day operations, DCM is proud to have been given the opportunity to share its knowledge and know-how with junior inspectors and other individuals looking for further exposure to welding and inspection technology. We look forward to continued collaboration on the Annual IPEAI Conference.
Way to go Gord and DCM!
