Hi All,
As you are all well-aware, thousands of men, women and children have been affected and displaced by this on-going tragedy which also poses a huge challenge for our industry.
DCM prides itself for making the safety and well-being of its workers, employees and their respective families its first priority. We are thankful that all members of the DCM family have been accounted for and are safe.
It is important that we recognize the heroic actions of first responders who are truly in the front lines of keeping us safe and secure and who have committed their lives to protecting us. Our thoughts and prayers are also with all those who have been forced out of their homes and have since taken refuge in camps and shelters with their futures unknown.
Many of our employees have expressed their desire to help in the relief efforts, and truly emulate the values we uphold. In order to align our efforts, we encourage our employees to:
A. Make a donation to the Edmonton Emergency Relief Services (Edmonton)
Please visit their website at http://www.eerss.org/ for more information on their relief efforts and how your contribution can help make a difference. Physical donations of clothing, toiletries, or other goods must be dropped off at the Emergency Relief Centre located at 10255 104th Street. Only certain types of donations are being accepted at the present time, specifically diapers, wipes, toiletries, socks, underwear and pillows.
B. Make a donation to the Red Cross.
Financial donations to the Red Cross can be made athttp://www.redcross.ca/. A specific fund aimed at helping evacuees has been set up.
As individuals, we each respond to tragic events in our own way, some more than others. The effect of the horrific images of the devastation or the direct impact of having lost a home or personal effects is real. If you feel the need to talk to a professional, please do not hesitate to use the resources available to all of us, namely the DCM Employee Assistance Program and / or the CMAW Employee Assistance Program.
We will continue to stand with the residents of Fort McMurray in the days, weeks and months to come as we all come together in the recovery effort.
We will keep you informed of any new developments as they happen. Stay safe!
Serge
